A Syrah bearing my mothers name that expresses her softly spoken manners in a style she orchestrated me to vinifi for her via her up bringing of a natural progression of zero sulfite dosage.
Vineyard ~ home vines located in the Angaston Hills at an altitude of 380mt that lays upon a thin soiled limestone ridge.

TreatmentPlanted in 2014 to 3 unique Barossa shiraz clones; Steinert Flaxman Valley, Tolley Nuriootpa & Stonewell Marananga these three achieved light, shade and comfort in its styling from the Barossa eastern, western hills and valley floor sites that are now embedded at our Angaston Village home on a 380mt limestone enriched hill. Hand harvested 30% whole bunch naturally fermented in open milk vats, basket pressed to ex white Chardonnay Burgundian 300lt barrels & bottled unfiltered.

VintageGreat to see timely rainfall throughout the Barossa with falls being during critical times of the vines production thoughout the growing season. Great mild vintage for the  allowing for flavours to slowly build with excellent acid retention to aid in the wines freshness. This 2021 release is deliciously showy of poise and wonder.
StyleThe nose is wonderfully perfumed of violets, raspberries and blueberries. Delicious palate that carries over from the aromas with added dark berries which are dense but delicate. Finishes long with lovely fine tannins – Just an amazing drink!

What a wonderful and individual wine this is, you could be in the Eden Valley, or Ardèche, or the Northern Rhône, but what you have here is a superb wine of distinction, with the quirky closure of a crownseal, made by the gentle hand of a man who makes it as a tribute to his dear Mum.

So purple. So vital. Grilled meat, spicy, blueberry and fresh blackberry, violet perfume. Medium-bodied, savoury, meaty and spicy, but pure of intense black fruit – blackcurrant, raspberry,  sage, succulent, yet tight. So fresh, hazelnut and fine-grained silty tannin, a graphite feel to it, maybe even some liquorice and Averna-like richness. Finish is long, clean and focussed.
