2015 Vigna Cantina Tempranillo

Beautifully fragrant, lively & so flavoursome

Tempranillo is a Spanish red table variety that has quested my hunger to pair with roasted and grilled meats.

Vintage Average winter rains and good fruit set was a good sign to vintage 2015. The summer months between December and February was mild to hot but did receive a welcoming rain event in January. Temperatures abated late February and March leading into harvest. Its beautifully fragrant, medium bodied with lovely ripe tannins. So plush.

Indaily – Philip White – Sept 2016

Longtime makers of dead-reliable rustic guzzle of the highest, finest order at the lowest, most squashed prices. Here we have more of that sweet figs-in-madiera headiness, decorated with musky confectioners’ sugar. It sometimes smells like meringue in raspberries and cream. And then down below there’s that slightly sinister Spanish leather harness reek typical of Temp. Hot chorizos please, and warm black olives.

The Winefront – Gary Walsh – August 2016

Cherries dipped in chocolate, almonds, spice, dusty wood, whiff of mint.
Medium bodied, smooth tannin, slightly sappy acidity and flavour in with the choc-cherry, layer of spice and plenty of powdery tannin on a strawberried finish of good length.
Good tasty wine built for drinking rather than thinking.
